The Porsche Taycan offers a more extensive customization selection, offering you a variety of personalization options for exterior and interior. The Taycan offers a premium look and feel unlike the Tesla limited interior and exterior options. Similarly, the Taycan is available at multiple dealerships with more instock unlike Teslas small dealer network which equates to fewer service and dealer centers. This can all add up to not just longer wait times to purchase and order a new vehicle, but also incalculable wait times for repairs. At Porsche Minneapolis, we are proud to be a part of our local and surrounding communities including Lauderdale, Golden Valley, Roseville, Shoreview, and Brooklyn Center. Our Porsche Parts department stocks a wide variety of parts and accessories for vintage and modern Porsche models. Our Porsche Certified Service department provides world-class knowledge and service to help keep your Porsche performing at its best. Below are other advantages Porsche Taycan has over Tesla models:
The Porsche Taycan offers a more distinct combination of future and past with the classic Porsche stylings see inside and out while Tesla brings a more simplistic look with limited details and options. From the exterior, the low roofline that drops on a very wide body with even wider fenders with inspiration from the 911 sedan. It’s aggressive yet elegant and sporty. While Tesla’s Model S is appealing, it is also sterile and as it hasn’t changed much since its introduction 2012, the Tesla simply put lacks the luxury polish of some similarly priced sedans.
The Taycan offers a different driver focused display, rather than Tesla’s singular 12.3 inch screen that looks similar to a cumbersome iPad, the Taycan splits its screens for a easier on the eye and less distracting look. The gauge cluster is a 16.8-inch screen capable of displaying multiple features at once, there’s a centrally located 10.9-inch infotainment screen, with a second 8.4-incher for climate controls and handwriting recognition. Apple CarPlay is standard, as is a new digital assistant that answers to “Hey, Porsche.” If that’s not enough, there’s also an optionally available infotainment screen just for the front passenger. No Apple CarPlay, Android Auto or similar smartphone integration on Tesla, and no Cooled/Ventilated seats option like the Taycan offers.
The Porsche Taycan Turbo S and the Tesla Model S performances are similar, however the Taycan offers a more performance-oriented feel than the Model S. This is due to the standard carbon-ceramic brakes. Also the Taycan Turbo S is capable of over-boosting for short periods of time to produce about 750 horsepower and 774 lb-ft of torque, enough to push the car to 60 mph in 2.6 seconds, continuing on to a top speed of about 162 mph. Without the overboost function, the motors produce 616 horsepower. The 4S’ base variant over-boosts from 429 to 522 hp and 472 lb-ft of torque, while the 4S with the Performance Battery Pack raises output to 482 hp (563 hp with overboost) and 479 lb-ft of torque. Both 4S variants will reach 60 mph in 3.8 seconds, and both have a top speed of 155 mph.
The Tesla Model S Performance on the other hand, produces approximately 762 horsepower and 723 lb-ft of torque compared to the 774 lb-foot of torque. Overall the Taycan offers a more fun driver experience, the Taycan 4S has a drag coefficient of 0.22 while the Tesla Model S has a drag coefficient of 0.23.
If you want a luxury car with iconic luxury perks while still getting all the electric vehicle benefits, the Porsche Taycan is the only choice. The Taycan has better touchpoints, more repeatable performance, and its battery will last longer by design. Tesla may deliver a similar performance punch at a lower price but when you want a Porsche, you want a Porsche!
